What people like
- Covers everything about the team in one place
- Updates happen very quickly after events
- The layout is clean and easy to use
- Great opinion pieces from experienced journalists
What they complain about
- You have to pay for most articles now
- Ads interrupt you constantly while reading
- The app crashes frequently and bugs out
- News stories are often just clickbait
Was a free app now have pay
Can’t believe you can’t use the app anymore For free to read the content, being forced to pay to use its full potential, I won’t be using it anymore
Now only 7 articles allowed & told this for more than a week!
How am I supposed to read articles when the page constantly jumps down to ads, meaning I have to scroll back & try to find where I was in the article? If I can be bothered that is, & not just go elsewhere. And now with latest update I can only read just 7 articles a week without paying. And the message that I’ve read my measly free articles for the week - has gone on longer than a week! Ridiculous - which developer can’t add up?? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I’m done. Deleted.
App is fine
Just the quality of content is uneven. There are too many stories based on scouring social media for fan reactions. Also too many Trump ads.
Doesn’t work
This is normally a good app and I decided a while back to pay for a monthly subscription. Worked fine until recently when it now constantly crashes, doesn’t let you flip between the option tabs at the bottom and generally is unusable. Have obviously cancelled my subscription as I can’t use it.
Keeps closing down!
The app keeps crashing when scrolling down to read further, wonder if it happens to people who have the paid account? Or is this the planned deliberately?
Must have app
Absolute must have app for United fans. High quality journalism, new news and a great understanding of the topics talked about. Excellent coverage of the youth system and other topics. Brilliant and very important point in supporting United for me and my two boys. An absolute must have app for United fans. Can’t thank the MEN enough for this app 🌟🌟
Terrible
You can’t read an article without it endlessly jumping to the bottom of the text where the adverts are based. Of course I understand the app has to have adverts, I’m not complaining about that but it’s so annoying to use when you keep having to scroll back up the page to what you were reading.
MEN Review
Good news about United, but I find the adverts too intrusive.
Subscription model now
Was excellent. Unfortunately they now only give limited access since introducing paywall.
Poor.
Scroll through article only for it to cut out so never get to read end of what it’s about.
Love united
Great app first class
App Deleted
I’ve deleted this app since they started charging for “Premium” articles, like post-match player ratings, which was one of the main reasons for keeping the app. I can get all the MUFC news I need elsewhere for free.
Great App
I love this app, it’s great for any news from United and the stories are more believable than in the National press
Not great
Being a United fan I can’t get enough news, opinion and speculation about the club. So when this app stopped being freely accessible I was disappointed that I wouldn’t use it again. Then after a week I thought £2.99 isn’t much to try it for a month thinking there must be lots of improvements that make it worth the money. Disappointingly apart from a fresh app look lots of the issues that were there before still remain. Firstly, it doesn’t cover as many stories as are freely available on the MEN Man Utd webpage and the website has all the stories covered by this app. Second, the links from the daily blog stories still don’t open, or open as blanked out pages with no text, so I still don’t have access to the full stories. Thirdly, I’m not sure where the great new features and exclusive features are? I’m all for supporting the journalism but I can put up with scrolling past adverts such as found on Facebook or the website to do this. I guess there is time for the app to improve but it would be a shame if there are no plans to match the article output of the website or sort out the broken links now that this app is no longer free. Anyway let hope to a successful season coming up and new owners ASAP.
Great App, Terrible Battery Drain
I love catching up on the latest MU news via M.E.N.; however, this app is using >50% of my iPhone battery while I only check it for a few minutes 2-3 times per day.
Man U News
Always up to date with news. Get more from this site than all the others including Man U Official site
Once a great app
I’ve used this app for years and found it a very reliable source but to read articles now, they would like me to subscribe. Such a massive shame as all it has led me to do is delete the app and download a competitors one instead.
Must keep up with the notifications
I think this is a good app for Utd news, however, it annoys me when a notification comes through, such as team news, and when you follow the link you cannot find the advertised news.
Keeps going off
Downloaded this app as the Manchester United page on the Manchester Evening News app kept switching off to the phones main screen. Unfortunately this app does exactly the same. This has only occurred since the last update so maybe a technical issue?? Very annoying when you’re halfway through reading something!!
Honest feedback
Why the comments has been removed In most articles. How can we fans air our frustrations and appreciation. For now we true fans are frustrated
Man Utd
Very helpful when can’t watch a game
Don’t bother
Used to be great to catch up on the United news, but you now have to pay so time to switch to other United apps.
A decent app
Keeps me in the loop...
Had to delete it
I enjoyed this app for a while. If you want dedicated Man United news, it will feed you, and there’s some decent analysis on offer. In the end, though, it’s just too much click bait. They will create an article out of anything. Roy Keane says something entirely predictable on the telly and they will spin an entire story out of it. The stories are mostly filler, though, so you just skip to the fourth paragraph and literally everything they have to say is right there. The ads in this app are diabolical. It’s all about harvesting your data and feeding you the most pointless stories that require you to click through literally 15 or more pages - all full of more ads - just to learn that a pregnant dog once gave birth to 12 puppies. You get sucked into looking at these ads because you feel so empty and unsatisfied by the “news” story you just read about some theoretical tactical switch that some nobody believes Ole Gunnar Solskjær ought to make. I don’t know how we’ve come to this, but I don’t want any part of it.
The Perfect MANU mate
This app has been developed superbly to become my perfect ManU mate. I receive feed through the day and can follow everything that is happening in bite sized notices. The layout is clear and easy to follow. The articles are well written and authoritative.
Excellent app
The up to date app very close to Manchester United where ever they go
Hero to zero
This used to be one of my go to Apps each day. One of the the regular sources of news on United. The latest update only grants 10 articles before requiring a subscription. Much as I enjoyed reading news feed, 5ere are so many sources that are still free and there’s no need to be bullied into paying. Sorry. App now deleted.
Great app for United fans
This is a really good app for all United related news. All the latest team news, stalkers at the Lowry ( mou's favourite) reactions, social media updated etc. my only request/complaint is a clear cache function. This app was taking up over 2gb space, had to uninstall/reinstall to clear it. Be good if they configured a clear cache feature.
Content good but...
Update December 2019 Now comments have been disabled for nearly every article. Can't take criticism?? Still too many articles that repeat whole paragraphs, or more, from other articles and fail to contain the news promised in the headlines. Update June 2019 New bug. The article comments are Entirely Different for the same article in my iPad App and my Android phone App. I don't mean one has more than the other (I.e. Not synced) I mean ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. one set of comments on my iPad DIFFERENT set on my Pixel phone. Bizarre. Update Dec 2018 New bug. When I open the App it loads the latest news then immediately replaces it with the prior news until I close and reopen the App. weird. Also no notifications when my comments are replied to, liked, or disliked. -------------------- I like the App and the easy access to all things MU. Except, it constantly crashes, it does not display correctly in landscape mode on my iPad and it is impossible to send feedback if you do not use the propriety Apple email client!
Great
Nice 👍
Man U App
By far the best app
Subscription lol
Over 3 times the price of the athletic for low quality, stating the obvious click bait with more ads than the classifieds. No tar
Man U through and through
Always look at the app several times a day and usually packed full of good useful titbits
The text in this app is tiny!
I consider myself to have eyesight for reading (as does my optician), but this app is beyond me! The text is tiny (much much smaller than any other app I have ever used) and I can’t find a way to increase the size. Big thumbs down.
Pretty Good
As football apps go for the top teams in England and Europe this is ok. It's a little lame with old stories hanging around too long but it's informative and easy on the eye. Considering Man U is a global brand, its social media platforms really should reflect that. C'mon you reds - sort it!
Mrs Man Utd
Excellent app with great updates
Comment blocking
I have taken the time to write a thought out non-offensive comment to post on the MEN Manchester United board on 2/3 occassions now where the MEN has blocked my post. The post reads ‘Content Disabled’. The views I have posted have been my personal opinion as to a story being ran. The posts get blocked without reason and there is no apparent avenue, certainly via the app, to ask what it is that has caused by post to be blocked. No freedom of speech here then. That said there is no reason for me to read their dialogue if they don’t allow opinion on the message board. I’m closing my MEN account and deleting the app. I guess that’s me giving MEN the ‘content disabled’ response they deserve. Poor journalism MEN
Good app
Good for up todate news
Slow
The twitter account/online is better tbh
Transfer targets
Over the past few days Woodward has been indicating there’s no cash left to buy. Now we read of record profits. Time is overdue for Woodward to get onboard and show some respect for the success Mourhiio has brought to United. Ever since Woodward has arrived he’s been a disaster failure to win the Premier will be Woodward’s fault if he doesn’t get his act together
App tracking mandatory even though switched off in general settings
Shame that you now have to agree to your private data use before using the app. Why does apple allow this to be presented when I have app tracking turned off. We all know the process supplied is overly complex to confuse the consumer. App deleted.
Best United news app I've found so far
I've tried a few. They were clunky and riddle with ads. I enjoy the layout and the straightforward appearance of this one. My go to for my mobile Man United news
Click-bait a plenty
A fairly useful app that allows me to post ok at news about my beloved Manchester United. Unfortunately much of the notifications are loosely related click-bait which isn't something I'd expect of the Manchester evening news. I'd expect much more class than that. For example today I had a notification stating 'United close in on fourth signing.' Before redirecting me to an article about Ibrahimovich recovering from his injury and being potentially given a deal. Come on guys you should do better.
A must have for a United fan
Great app, great opinions, regularly updated, very friendly user-interface. Before this app I found it very difficult finding a good source of information with regards to Manchester United team updates and what not, especially all in one place. A must have
Click bait
A load of click bait sh1t£
David
Overall Very good App. 👍🏻 I do recommend. Just wish it had a bit more videos, along with not playing the same (repeating) video when clicking the play icon from various articles , pages , and sections of the App. Oh & ipad app is needed, most definitely!
Always out of date
