Like it but could b better
I love the philosophy behind the app. Little things I wish I could do is choose the date. Sometimes it shows me an outfit I like but I don’t. What it for that day I’m on so I wish I could select it and change the date to future date. Also I repeat outfits so why can’t I select one I already chose earlier in the week and just duplicate it to put new date. My other improvement I think will take place once the app learns my style better. Also I wish I could select the capsule template and have it adjust to add a layer if I want one for the outfit it chose. I can’t add it other than as an edit and it’s small image like accessories. Other than this it is helpful but just feels like developer needs to use it more and see how it need more human logic than just AI
AI Chat Bot/ Update
I spent several hours up loading pictures of my clothes into the closet. Well, turns out the photos were clear to clearly depict each item. Chat bot was helpful and we created a list and i deleted the closet and took all the photos and created notes for each item. After i finished, i could not see the notes from any of the suggest or from the calander. I tried to follow the chat bot instruction, but you to toggle between several screens. Turns out the app and ios are on the same page. I got into an agruement with the chat bot over ios operating systems because ios is currently on 26.5.2 which the chat bot didnt believe. There is an update for the app, but it is not communicating with the app store apparently.
Okay. Missing some useful elements
Wish I could make notes. Wish I could also put items in a donated or sold status.
I’ve been using Cladwell for 1856 days - it’s a game-changer
I use Cladwell to log my outfits and to create new outfit combinations. I really love the flexibility to make new capsules! I have ones that are labeled by year and I add all the items that are new to me that I acquired during the year. I have one that tracks every piece of clothing or shoes that I have worn over thirty times. And as a sewist and knitter, I have a Me Made capsule to track all the items I have created myself. This is in addition to wardrobe capsules that I use for travel, for different seasons, and for different outfit formulae. I will continue to subscribe to Cladwell and have recommended it to many friends! 🙂😎
don’t waste your money
Cladwell creates ridiculous outfit suggestions, and the algorithm refuses to learn. Nothing you tell the app changes the nonsense it produces. What a waste of money!
So far Love with one Recommendation
I just downloaded this yesterday under the free version. I love that this app offers a free version to play around and see if you like it before upgrading (if you chose to. You don’t have to). I love that you’re able to upload clothes via a website link so if I have something in my shopping cart I can add it and then find “possible outfits” based on items I already have. If there aren’t really outfit options, I can tell myself I don’t need that piece because it doesn’t fit the rest of my wardrobe. The one suggestion I can make is to make camisoles/tank tops their own category. They’re great for layering but don’t always work as an outfit by themselves. Right now I have them listed as tshirts so the app puts them as tops on their own. I’m planning on going through the rest of my wardrobe and uploading child everything I have.
Does not work the way you think
The photo upload does not put certain clothing items where they belong and change what they look like, plus you have to pay and upgrade everything and it’s not cheap. Another part of this app that sucks is the ideas for outfits make no sense and don’t work it’s a transom selection. And again you need to pay to get anything better. This app is an overall scam and I do not recommend anyone to get it!
Great idea, but….
Because of some recent body changes, and changes in my job, I needed to be more mindful of what I wore, and how I organized what I had and actually wore/wear. I downloaded the app to help me with that. In theory, it’s a great idea, but it really needs some work. First, the categories might be great for warm weather/warm climates, but don’t really work for those of us that live in frigid temps a lot of the year. I would like to be able to log that I wear leggings under a dress, for example. Right now, they’re in the same category, and you can only choose one. The outfit suggestions are sometimes completely nonsensical. A leather jacket with an open front blazer and no pants? An outfit with TWO blazers? That doesn’t work. Also, it would be nice for the app to suggest accessories—yes, I tried asking the AI function to help with that and got some suggestions like, “you might wear some earrings with this outfit!” Well….yeah…I’d thought of that myself, funnily enough. I’d also like to be able to order pieces myself, rather than have them go in as they’re uploaded. Sometimes, after a few days/weeks, I’ll notice that I’m not wearing a particular group or category of clothing, and I’d like to be able to move them around so they make logical sense to me. Finally, the website should have more functionality. It’s easier, for example, to build an outfit where I can see details—the app makes the colors look so similar the I can’t tell for example between navy blue pants and black pants. Finally, I think categories should be customizable. Again, living in a very cold climate, I need multiple layers, and I’d like to be able to categorize pieces based upon layer, and it works for me—not as AI thinks it should work.
Love this app!
I use this app to organize my wardrobe. I have been able to use the data to pare down my closet, but I have more outfits! Sometimes I add an item from a website before I buy it, just to see if I have items to wear with it. I use the chat to help me pack for trips and make outfits for special occasions. I’m enjoying playing with it, and I think I am dressing better, too.
Kept billing me after cancelling
I have contacted Cladwell support several times over the past few YEARS about this issue and they keep charging me. I deleted my account and cancelled my subscription through my Apple ID back in 2022. They have continued charging me monthly despite me contacting them multiple times to try to get them to stop.
Missing a must feature
Like the app. I’ve been using it for over a year now. It’s helpful overall, but a few improvement are necessary. 1. Most important a calendar view for organizing your outfits. Would like to choose outfits in advance for the week. 2. Clothing database has limits and doesn’t alway recognize a clothing item properly. It might be helpful to send items not recognized to the developer for improvements. 3. Would like a recommended shopping list for each capsul. If the app could automatically analyze your capsul and make a shopping list of items that would compliment what you have, that would be awesome! 4. Likewise if it could suggest removal of items that do not fit your capsul, that would also be great. 5. It would be great to put in body type metrics and get a list of clothing that would work for your body type. I know AI can do this but images would be better. 6. Lastly, this should be my number two complaint, but accessories should be included in the overall outfit generator. As a fashion illiterate I do not know how to accessorize. 😊
Great idea, not executed well
I loved the idea of this app. Indy, after hours of uploading pictures, and at least 2 hours trying to “teach” the app what I needed, I got a lot of “unfortunately we can’t…blah blah.” I don’t need anything special—I’m a librarian. The app doesn’t seem to understand that I need a shirt under an open cardigan! Unfortunately, you can’t categorize your own pieces, you can’t create your own categories, and even with premium, accessories aren’t included unless you ask. It’s a great idea with too many limitations to make it useful.
No longer innovating much?
I used to love Cladwell - until it seemed like they rebranded to be a tool for personal stylists, not the individual regular person. Like it’s great to put a few clothing items in a database for your clients to see a capsule. But for us regular folks, there haven’t been any really good updates in a long time. I have almost 500 pieces that I’ve taken the time to photograph & enter data on, which is the only reason I still have it. My biggest complaint is it seems to have not updated its terrible AI outfit suggestions since AI was invented. The AI doesn’t take into account today’s weather - living in New England, I find that to be a HUGE deal. It’s high of 97 degrees F today and Cladwell recommended black jeans with a black tee and black sneakers and several other outfits that just consisted of jeans, tees, and boots. So if you’re getting it for outfit suggestions, save your time! It just randomly picks whatever. Another thing is you can’t make cute “vision board type” looks by rearranging the clothing items and accessories on the screen; you will just see everything in a grid. And there’s no calendar view of what you’ve worn! The only time I ever use it now is for when I need to make a travel capsule - it’s good for that. But not $60 a year good.
Just what I needed
This app is amazing. It’s made me less materialistic when it comes to my closet. Even pieces that are “out of style” can get a new life when the app gives me creative outfit options. Cladwell is a lot of work at first to take pictures of all your clothes and load them to the app but it’s worth it in the end. I always feel stylish and put together for work every day without feeling the pressure to buy new clothes.
I pay for this app
I’ve had this app since at least 2017 and been paying an annual subscription for years. I had to have my file rebuilt or reset once and since then it has worked ok. Lately I have noticed again that the app is stuck in certain combinations. I have dresses that have no style combinations and almost all my tank tops do not go with anything. I have tried contacting support but have not heard back. I just tried emailing them again before this review. Is anyone managing the app? If not, what am I paying for?
Room for improvement
I use this app to pack for frequent travel & planning, it’s great for that. However it REALLY needs some organizational functionality to group like items together into subcategories. Yes all the pants are together, but my leggings are mixed with work slacks & shorts & jeans, it’s just a mess! The work around is to move things to “storage” & then move them back into the closet in the correct order, but what a pain! Should be able to drag & drop items around to organize as desired, under the major categories.
Needs some work
Cons: When it mislabels a category, there’s no way to correct it. For example, it put one of my T-shirts in the layers section, and I cannot move it into the top section. So when I try to use the outfit creator tool that I’m paying for, it keeps putting that T-shirt in as a layer like a sweatshirt on top of another T-shirt because it’s in the wrong category. There is no way to fix this and it makes half of the paid features unusable. There is no way to rotate images within the app. Not a dealbreaker, just annoying. Most of the outfits that it puts together… absolutely ridiculous. Not in the sense that they’re just not my style, but in the sense that I am not going to wear bright blue linen pants with a striped chunky sweater and a denim skirt.
Improvements
It always recommends the same 2-3 shoes for every single outfit. no rotation at all. And why isn’t there a search feature where you can type to find pieces.
Love the concept, hate the app
I’ve been a CLADWELL user since it was free! But I love it so continued on even when asked to pay. My consistent need, want, desire and now maybe a need to move on is the inability to organize my clothes within a category. I agree with lalalizbeth in Sept 100%. So…arranging within the category (blouses together, sweaters together) and also drag an item from one category to another. Sometimes I realize I should have made it a ‘layer’ instead of a top. It’s drag and drop people! Please help!
Does not work
I tried to create an account with my Apple passcode and received notice that it could not connect to my social media. Then tried to sign up through my email and received notice that an unknown error occurred. Tried closing the app and starting over and same thing. Not going to bother wasting my time.
Can finally visualize what I have & what I want!
I’ve only been using the app for a few weeks but can already tell it’s a game changer for me. I live in a small apartment with small closets. Frankly, I forget what I have and usually end up wearing the same few outfits over and over. I dedicated a weekend to go through my closet and add all my most-loved and/or staple pieces into the app. The suggested outfits are great, although I usually find myself building out outfits in the app. It’s just amazing to see what I own in this way, laid out with little icons that help me visualize the entire ensemble. I feel more confident grabbing a cast aside blouse or skirt and trying it out with pieces that the app suggests. Eventually, I would love to use the app to build a personal style and closet that more reflects “me.” I like that the chat bot in the app gives specific suggestions of stores / clothing items (ex. Madewell’s Harlow Pants instead of simply “trousers”). I wish there was more integration between the chat bot and the personal style direction quiz. I took the quiz and found out what my “direction” is, but there doesn’t seem to be a next step to help me get there. I’m trying to leverage the chat bot to help with that. Great app, definitely worth the monthly subscription for the extra features.
Really wished the weather feature worked
The weather feature was a nice touch at first but it has been stuck at 65H/55L every day and recommending outfits with sweaters and cardigans for that range. It is currently 95H and 77L where I live. Would love it if something without a sweater was suggested 🥲 I actually paid for a subscription for this app but have since cancelled since it isn’t helping me. Would love to see this feature functioning again.
PLEASE let us help the AI
The last update with AI image processing may push me to leave the subscription. WHY isn’t there a way to edit an item category after the AI has processed it?? Example, I uploaded an image of a dress and it keeps categorizing it as a skirt over and over. No way to change it. AI is not 100% correct and is supposed to be a tool. I should be able to check what it has identified. I have been using this app for years and love it for outfit planning and tracking what I’m wearing consistently. I wish there were more ways to organize within a category, or to make a category for favorite items. However, doesn’t feel like the app had improved much or added features I enjoy for the duration of time I’ve been using it.
Easy and Convenient
I’m building a capsule wardrobe and this breaks it down pretty easy. No complaints over here. I would consider using the AI possibly if there was a one time purchase but besides that great program.
Software bug?
I was so excited to try this app; I followed instructions and entered three dresses from my photos, choosing a template and filling in all the requested info for each — snd then when I go to save them, for each one it has erased the pattern and tells me I have to fill in which pattern it is again (one was solid, one vertical stripes, and one was the name for non-geometric pattern whose exact terminology I forget); and I fill it in again, swipe to fill in for the others, go to save again, and the whole cycle repeats again. — Help? Edit: I recall that I had selected the permissions to allow the app full access to ONLY the photos I selected rather than every photo in my personal library so maybe this is the use case step that needs to be debugged.
Useful and continually improving
I started using this app about 9 months ago to put together outfits after 2 years of not leaving my house much. Since then I’ve used it a lot to make capsule wardrobes for trips and seasons, and it makes packing so much easier. I also like it for keeping track of outfits I like so I can dress quickly in the morning. The algorithm needs more work to make logical outfits and I’d love more searchability and classification options (eg turtleneck, button cardigan, jewellery, outerwear) and more analytics. But they’re on the right track, keep going!
Adding new pieces is a disaster
Used to love this app but now when you go to add a new item it auto adjusts the images and typically manages to muck it up in a huge way, enough so that I'm going to cancel my subscription

I’d love to give the app a higher rating because I love the concept and put a lot of time in logging my clothes but I agree on the need for better category sorting and the AI feature definitely leaves something to be desired.

Expensive
I’ve used this app for 2-3 years. I left a review a while ago saying that I loved the app but paying $8/month was ridiculous. And now that I think about it, the app hasn’t added any new features in the several years that I’ve been using it, aside from the AI chatbot (which is useless because it can’t actually see your wardrobe). I left a review with a few suggestions that would make the app better, and it was completely ignored. I’ve paid them AT LEAST $150 for this app subscription. That’s crazy. If they had an option for like, $30/year instead of $8/month, I’d consider it. I like the layout of the app and being able to create outfits so easily. But paying that much for a wardrobe app? In this economy? Nope, I cancelled my subscription and deleted it.
Disappointed
I’ve been a loyal Cladwell user for 7 years. For $60 a year, there have been very little changes or improvements. With the exception of a large update pre-covid, everything from features of the app to the clothes you can choose from to add to your wardrobe has stayed pretty much the same. I don’t understand why the cost continues to be so high.
Saves me money
I love this app! Not only does it keep my clothes organized but I can see at my fingertips what it have. I love that it gives me outfit suggestions and that I can “love” an outfit and save for future ideas that I know work! It helps me be creative when my seasonal capsules can get a little boring. Instead of shopping for something new immediately, I try something new with it!
Awful can’t cancel
Have contacted multiple times keep being told to do thru Apple. That doesn’t work. Don’t subscribe or you get caught in months of charges and no response or resolution.
love so far but suggestions
i’m new to the app but love it so far! i enjoy the suggestion portion with consideration to the weather as well as the capability to keep track of my closet AND storage. As it’s a daily struggle to get ready for myself and i would presume others; i would suggest making it possible to share your profile or closet with other users or friends. i ask for my close friends opinions quite often and it would be fantastic to give them a view of my closet.
Seems like developer gave up on any updates
Is this app still being updated? I paid for a year, spent a lot of time uploading my ENTIRE closet and I haven’t seen any updates to this app ever. There are a lot of bugs that need fixed, a lot of improvements to be made. Unsure what’s going on here but I want a refund.
Needs updates
I really love the idea of this app but unfortunately the execution is nowhere near where it needs to be. First off, instead of taking individual photos of everything in my wardrobe, I wish I had the option to grant the app permission to sync with my email and import clothing and shoes based on my purchase history. Second, I think the outfit generator part needs a lot of work, including the ability to specify what you are trying to dress for (work, brunch, athleisure, etc.). I found myself wanting more specific categories available to me (for example cardigans, since those would be paired with a top underneath while a sweater seems to count as a top in and of itself).
Game Changer
I have always wanted to digitize my closet and I did a lot of research before choosing Cladwell and have been so happy with it. I tried 4 apps in total with capsule wardrobes before I committed to Cladwell a year ago and will never look back. Pros - easy to upload items from your camera roll or from their library - can create multiple “capsules” - has the weather in the app - you can build multiple outfits per day - removed the background from images - has ai that learns your style the more you use it - will break down your closet with data like items you wear the most, most worn colour, cost per wear, what’s in your closet, etc - can filter through items when adding to an outfit - cloud based so you can access it on any device Cons - the organization of each category could be better like having the option to filter through items at all times, not just when building an outfit or “capsule” - they have a feature that tracks when you last wore an item and it would be nice to tweak the amount of time this is based on, I live in Canada so being able to adjust this would be nice. - since it is cloud based, you can’t use the app offline which can be annoying sometimes - not free, but for the amount of time it takes to upload your closet, it’s worth it to have that data saved for peace of mind I think the cons are minor improvements that the developer could tweak and I would still recommend the app and will continue to use it.

Interesting but has no team
I downloaded the app 2 weeks ago. I upgraded my account since it has an interesting platform and features. But since then I couldn’t enjoy the upgraded features. I tried to contact customer service twice and no response. I hope they can evolve.
Good app, could be better
I do love that I can plan my outfits out for a busy week of work, vacation, business trip, etc. but the actual outfits it suggests is very random and doesn’t even correspond to the weather even though I allowed location and it shows weather outside on app. !!! I also truly think that if there was a widget that I could add to my Home Screen, I would use it SO MUCH MORE! so please add that !!! Also, adding a feature where you can see the full Monday-Friday (or 3-5 days) all at once would be great to make sure I’m not accidentally repeating a shirt without realizing and then upset the next morning when I go to get dressed and the shirt is dirty.

I really love this app. Since I started using this I feel like I can actually SEE what is in my closet. I found myself wearing the same 10 things all the time and this app really helps me to branch out to wearing different pieces. Also super helpful for packing and it helps me make conscious clothing purchases instead of just buying more of the same thing. Love it so much I purchased the annual subscription.
Stuck on PW Creation
Can’t seem to get past password creation screen. No matter how long or how many numbers I include, the app responds “Password must be at least 8 characters and contain letters and numbers”. I know how to create a password. There’s enough of everything. The app just won’t work. Shame because I’d heard such good things and was excited to try it out.
Keep going
I started using Cladwell way before the pandemic. The app was free then and it was already amazing. Many of my friends started using the app after my raving about it. Stopped using it during the pandemic and am coming back now after 3 years. The app is still great and easy to use. Some suggestions for improvement follows especially now that it’s paid: 1. I’d love for the app to suggest the clothes in a capsule based on the items logged in my closet, as opposed to adding items I dont have. 2. The app could also make items to buy suggestions. This was something you guys had it in the free version of the app and I really loved that. It helped me buy items to complement my wardrobe. 3. More metadata for added clothes would be great too and have it shown as we are adding items to the closet. 4. Have caps lock as the default when adding names to custom items. Thank you for a great app!
Used to have great customer service
9/28/2023 - I’ve had this app for years. I got a subscription when you could subscribe through their website (which means they get all the money). They automatically renewed the subscription without sending any kind of advance notice. I spent two weeks emailing with them, mostly getting useless boilerplate. Today, they told me the can’t find an account under my email. Time to file a dispute with the credit card. I've been using this app for a couple of months and think it's fantastic. In some ways, it's a one trick pony but I'm happy with that. There's not a lot of feature bloat. The interface is clean and attractive. I've never been a morning person so not having to think too hard about clothes in the morning is wonderful. In the time since I've been using it, it has received some great updates. The latest, being able to edit outfit suggestions is very helpful. I also use Stylebook for some things but this is the app that dresses me in the morning. The developer is incredibly responsive. They really do pay attention to feedback.
