Great App & Great Support Service
I downloaded this app on my phone to try it out before installing it on my daughter’s iPad. Worked great, I installed on iPad and it wouldn’t work kept popping up with error message. I deleted it on my phone thinking that may be the problem. Still didn’t work then reinstalled it on phone to be treated with same error. I found the app on instagram and messaged them regarding the issue with the error message and they responded very quickly and quickly worked to fix the issue and the app is now working on both devices with no further issues. Also the games my daughter has played so far have been quick, engaging and enjoyable. Hopefully this will help to consolidate her phonics knowledge and improve her assessment targets at school.
Unusable for children
No audio prompt on the sound of the thing they’re supposed to identify, dragging letters from the bottom of the screen cause the game window context to change to other background apps. Straight into the bin.
Pronunciation issues
First impression this app seems to be a hit! I paid for the whole bundle. It’s a shame you can’t have a parent control to allow only certain sounds at a time. My boys are trying to play games with sounds I know they aren’t quite ready for yet and trying to learn too many in one go. Also why is ‘a’ pronounced as ar? For example c ar stle. A is for apple, not arpple!
App doesn’t fit iPad screen
App doesn’t display properly on iPad screen leaving options missing and tasks not possible to complete
Glitch
I rally like the content in the app but two things need to be fixed. Each letter has 7 steps to complete. Lately, when you have to drag a letter, the letter disappears and you have to restart the letter, it doesn’t restart where you left off. Secondly, there’s this alien that applauds you when you get it right but it’s so obnoxious that my daughter doesn’t like to use this app. Please fix it!
Great tool for parents and teachers!
As a parent and a SENCO I think this app is amazing. Really interactive and fun, it’s keeps children engaged while learning/revising their phonics. My five yr old loves it, as does older children that I work with as a SENCO. Great deals for schools as well.
Absolute Rubbish!!!
Do not download this app. The games are absolutely basic and better could be found on free apps. They also provide no support when you need it. I have emailed, tweeted and DM’ed them with no response. They take your money and provide no receipt.
Great Phonics App
This app is fun and simple. It is a great educational tool to support my son’s learning in sounds. The games are varied and build on sound knowledge. The visuals keep him interested and the spoken sounds are clear. Wonderful to find an English spoken phonics app. Thank you.
Not working properly
On a iPhone it happens a lot that you cannot click on a letter at the bottom of the screen which leads to frustration. Had to uninstall
Fun but with a few flaws
I am a primary TA and I bought my son (3.5) this app to help prepare him for starting school in September. I thought £7.99 was a bit pricy but was prepared to pay for all the sounds after he enjoyed the demo so much and showed a real willingness to learn from it. For the most part it’s great and my son loves it but there are a couple of issues that really need addressing. Some of the sounds aren’t very clear, e.g. s and ss come out as ‘psssss’ and I have to address it and correct it every time. The other problem is with some of the words in the games (particularly the alien words one) - my son has only just completed phase two sounds but some of the words are coming out with sounds that are at the end of phase three so he is not yet able to read them independently. These fixes would really benefit children using the app who are just starting out with reading.
This game is the best

Don’t believe the hype
The app worked to some extent, but the main issue when you’re trying to move on. I’ve been trying to close my account and the company has been silent. No returned emails to my request to shut my account down. I’m going to be reporting the app to apple in the hopes that they might be able to help me out. I would recommend trying an app where the company who develops the app is more responsive to there clients.
Fun ways to support phonics learning
I found this app to be a fun way to support children’s learning of phonics. The games are simple and easy to use. The progression in each section to read and apply a particular sound is great. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is that when playing on an iPhone, some of the games need to you to drag and drop from the bottom of the screen and this swipes up the iPhone menu which I found annoying. Perhaps move the drag and drop items a little more away from the edge. Other that that a great app which will support the teaching and learning of phonics in school and at home. Would recommend!
Love the game, shame about the bug
Really love this app and my children like it. Paid for full game. Would have given 5 stars but unfortunately, some sort of bug on the game, so that now the game freezes when a level has been reached and the game on other levels cannot not be played, as it shows a blank screen. It can take a day before the game/level can be played again before it happens again. I have emailed support and initially helpful, they said this has never happened before (according to previous app reviews, it has) and an update would be available the following day. 2 weeks later no new updates.... waiting...
App won't load
I found this app really helpful for my daughter but thanks to apple being greedy and not adding updates for the iPad 4 it won't load anymore I think this is disgusting as I had paid for the full app I have managed too get a refund but still it was very helpful for my daughter
Excellent
I use it as a teacher and a parent. As a teacher the ability to see areas of learning is great for assessments and it really prepares for the phonics screening. As a parent my son loves it and can get on with his learning independently.
NOT FREE
I only downloaded this as there was no mention of charges. After only a couple of sounds you cannot progress further without payment for each section. Otherwise my daughter was very pleased with the minimal amount she was able to do.
Good, educational app.
I am using this app to support phonics learning at home. There are a good variety of games which are fun to play. I wish the font used was more like comic sans to mirror correct letter formation.
Some good phonics principles but too repetitive
I work with students with dyslexia. I like the coverage of the phonics sounds, and the grouping provides good revision for sounds taught individually during lessons. There are only a small number of activities to do with the sounds, which repeat for each sound. The front screen has different islands, which makes it seem like there will be different activities, but they are all the same. The green alien makes a very annoying laughing sound every time the student taps a sound on the screen, and there are no settings to adjust. This app had potential, but does not live up to it. Different activities with the sounds, more activities with nonsense words, and more control over sound effects would be good.
Something has gone wrong
This is a brilliant game and has been fantstic the support my son with his phonics but it has recently stopped working. At the end of each level instead of unlocking the next level the game freezes and you are stuck and cannot progress any further with the game. Please fix this!!!

The kids love it, it covers a great range of abilities and stages. We particularly like the sound the alien makes when he eats the made up words. Also really great customer service, quick response.
3rd April update now won't load
I purchased the full app for £7.99 on the 31st of March 2020. It was updated on the 3rd of April 2020, and now won't open. I've reported it to the developers, and I will update this if it's resolved. In the meantime, I would suggest not paying for anything, as Apple don't support or refund in app purchases.
Great App
A colourful and appealing app which is a great way for children to learn. It is a good way to reinforce the learning within schools and allows children to have fun along the way!
Good educational kids app
The app itself is quite good and entertaining. Our 5 year old has been enjoying it for a while. She's quite amused with the little green alien. I only rate it with 3 stars cause I think there's room for improvement on the technical part, since sometimes seems to run a bit slow and the interface is not that much user friendly.
Definitely teaches
We’ve only tried the free parts as of yet, but it’s definitely taught the 4 year old some more phonics before she stars school, has taught me how to help teach her too and is very easy to use. She often has trouble with apps not registering her tiny fingers or being too fiddly, this app doesn’t have that.
Do not buy this app just yet
I think there might be something dodgy going on with their subscriptions they may not be aware of or they are just ignoring my emails. Hold off for now. I hope to get a response to find out what is happening.
Good educational app
App is great for all kids learning their letters and sounds. No annoying American voice! Just the little green alien 🙈 making noises all adding to the fun.
Sorry about my earlier review
I am sorry to have written my earlier feedback in frustration when the sounds wouldn’t unlock after payment and multiple emails to support & help. I managed to find Sophie, the app developer via Twitter and I am now informed the sound opens one after another which wasn’t clear in the FAQ’s. I am pleased this was only due to clarity which they have agreed to look into. I am sorry for the inconvenience and I am unable to delete my previous review. My kids love it. Best wishes, Now a happy customer.

This didn’t work so I upgraded to £799 and that didn’t work and now I have been charged for both.
Good educational tool
I have downloaded it for my son to learn and become more familiar with his phonics. The layout is great and very entertaining for my son. He loves the alien.
Highly recommend
Would highly recommend the read with phonics app. My 4 year old loves playing the different games. It’s so easy for him to use and in his own words “it’s fun”!

Good phonics app
I won the full version if this app. It's very good & my son likes using it. It would be better if the sounds were not locked & you can choose which sound you wanted. My son is doing phonics at school now & it would be good if he could practice the sounds he was currently doing in school. This way he has to go through all the other sounds or letters first.

Love that the app sounds out and blends word back together! Really engaged my 5 year old with her reading and I didn’t mind buying an in app purchase because it’s the same phonics app that my daughter’s school uses. Really pleased!
Very Disappointing
App does not work. Cannot get into the settings area. Cannot go past letter p. It keep telling us to hold down for 3 seconds and when we do nothing happens!!!
Great phonics app
My son is 5 and has really enjoyed stage 1. He's upset though that he can't move onto the next stages. I've tried to use your website to 'buy' the full version of the app but the option isn't there. Really hope this gets updated soon.
