Love the features
We have had Privacy Pro for several years now. When it first came out, I bought a license for it. Since it has evolved over the years, they now have a subscription service. But I would say it is very worth the price! It’s an excellent app! I cannot use my games without it! Superb!
it constantly hangs and halts all traffic
many times it just stops allowing traffic especially when phone switches from wifi to cellular and it brought me to extremes that I had to create a Shortcuts automation that invokes turning the vpn off and on whenever the phone leaves or joins a wifi.

Worked fine for years, now it blocks all traffic
I used to like seeing all the trackers PrivacyPro blocked, and I don't like knowing I'm unprotected now. But in about April, 2026, it started blocking all internet traffic on both iPad and iPhone. Sometimes toggling airplane mode would fix it; sometimes a reboot would fix it; sometimes I'd have to reset network settings and reboot two or three times to get connectivity back. It took me a while to figure out that it was PrivacyPro, and when I did, I tried the procedure suggested by Support, reset the DNS cache and deleted the VPN profile, and it didn't help. The v1.8.6 update didn't help. I'll leave it installed but turned off for one more update and try it again, but if that doesn't fix it I'm deleting it and finding a different VPN.
No Updates in 2 Years
This app works, but is lagging behind. If you are going to charge a subscription fee, there should be a justification for it with new features, bug fixes, performance improvements, and UI enhancements to keep up with new OS features and designs. Strongly considering cancelling my subscription next payment cycle.

Viafoura
When I saw this website show up in the list of Recently blocked as being ALLOWED, I IMMEDIATELY added the site to my custom block list as BEING BLOCKED. Remarkably, a month after adding the block, the site DID NOT show up in the Recently blocked list AT ALL. So just now, I actually dialled in Viafoura in Safari, and lo and behold, the website loads in the browser WHEN IT SHOULD BE BLOCKED!!! What this tells me is that there is something VERY DISREPUTABLE going on! I think an explanation is due. That or a refund is due.

Disconnect Bug in iOS 15.6
Near constant cycle of connecting and disconnecting after updating from iOS 15.5 to 15.6. Also crashes whenever I tap the “Activity” tab. I've tried deleting the VPN profile and recreating it. Does not fix the issues. Nor does restarting my iPhone.
Failing
Over the last week or so, the app closes itself multiple times a day (12+) and is consistently offline when I first check the phone in the morning. I find myself constantly checking throughout the day to see if it’s engaged, and if not, turning it back on. This app has been pretty rock solid for years, but all of a sudden something‘s not right. iPhone13 Pro iOS 18.0.1
Scroll up in “Customize”
Hello, PrivacyPro team. Been using the app for almost 3 years (maybe 4). I love it for intuitive design, robust performance, selective blocking but one thing that needs to be done. “Customize” section for adding custom urls to block is not working properly. It shows top 3 custom urls. When I try to scroll up to see the rest, it just won’t. I have the app on 2 of my phones and both have the same issue.
What went wrong?
I’ve been using Privacy Pro for years and thought it was great. Then three months ago I got locked out of my Apple ID on all my devices and my iPhone and my iPad would each tell me to use the other to log in. After a conversation with Apple Support they blamed my VPN. I disabled Privacy Pro and all was good (except that I was forced to change my password and all my app passwords). And with all the debug I want sure that was the magic step. After three months I decided to try Privacy Pro again, just on my iPhone, and see if the problems were fixed. I turned it on yesterday, and today I’m again locked out of all my devices (not just my iPhone). Turn off Privacy Pro, reset all the devices and passwords, and I’m running again. I’ve never had an app fail so spectacularly. I’m not going through that again.

Macht zuviel Arbeit
In letzter Zeit musste ich die Sperrlisten einmal pro Woche selbst bearbeiten, um bei gängigen Presseerzeugnissen die Anzeigen blockiert zu kriegen, am Ende war das nicht mehr beherrschbar. Also habe ich mitten im Zeitraum das Abo gekündigt und bin auf ein Produkt gewechselt, das einfach bessere, öfter gepflegte Blocklisten hat. Und bin jetzt zufrieden.
Appears not to be functioning properly
iOS 17.4 iPhone 12 - was functioning fine until a couple of days ago. The app is now blocking other apps from running and emails. Turning this app off, the issues stop. Have adjusted setting but to no avail.
Liked it for years
I've appreciated the product. My wife and I compare going to the same website. Hers is filked with junk ads. So I was going to put her on it. But I can't figure out the difference between the three main products. No matter where I look over and over, app store, developer site, I still have no idea. Some companies have created the idea of a table where each column is one of their products and each row is a feature and each cell shows whether that product has that feature. Maybe try to investigate that idea. Instead of a website with a lot of meaningless generic icons.
No longer works consistently
Every time I update my OS it is a fight to get this working again. It just blocks my internet connection without doing anything. I have remove it and reinstall it over and over again. Today it’s still not working and I’ve reinstalled 4 times. I like the concept but if they can’t get the basics right, why would I pay?
Update : Pro App less reliable than Premium.
Update. Per Disconnect’s recommendation I upgraded my Premium. I was confused as to the difference between Pro and Premium. The Premium product great. Thank you! I paid the yearly for both. I will end the subscription for Pro which expires next year. Thank you! - Upgraded hoping to take advantage of the new features and help your revenue. I was thinking more features higher quality. Unfortunately the feature functionality quality reliability ratio poor. I often turn off protection then on to get connectivity, or have to completely reconnect the network. Plus have carrier visual voicemail issues. Must turn off to get voicemail (sometimes) (All default settings). Also sometimes stops working when idle and I miss important notifications or email. Will tolerate it for a short time (I paid the year in full). Otherwise will ask for a full refund. Btw all is well when off in terms of connectivity and reliability (Premium fine)
Be aware that upgrades reset custom settings
Just noticed after upgrading that app resets all aggressive and strict settings to “default” levels. This is absurd that one needs to go back after and update to ensure desired protection is in place.

This app works really good
I had downloaded this app a little while ago and had not used it yet. I just opened and was testing out the functionality. It does exactly what it says. Checked my I.p. Gps to make sure and yup it showed the country I had picked. I’m only using the free version but it still gives you way more control options than say AdGuard vpn service with just a free account. You can control which dns service you would like to use. It’s just an all around good service.
Great when it works
2023-02-12: Nags for reviews. All apps that nag get a one star review. No exceptions. 2019-11-27 Update: App started blocking Facebook.com on its own. No I didn’t block it manually. Yes, I am absolutely sure. Saw it was being blocked in the logs & for the Facebook.com entry in the block list, it showed a “last updated” date of “Never”. History just plain stops working. Randomly. VPN always shows as on but if it’s not collecting history — what else isn’t it doing? Turning blocking off then back on in the app fixes the issue but I don’t trust the app enough to put $ into the paid version.

Great app. Paying customer, but I hate having to dig through and find out what tracker it is or it’s something else needed for an app or whatever the use is. Then it’s a game of on and off or block and don’t block to see what gets an app going. There has to be a standard of these things that you can state which one goes under so we can determine what to block versus a general app based one on strict to basic blocking. Especially when there hundreds of apps and you cover a handful only. Also, there should be something like the location arrow that states when it’s in use so we can restart it versus finding out hours later. May not be possible and the widget is the best possible, but doesn’t hurt to bring it up. Thanks!
Privacy Pro
Latest update appears to have slowed things down a lot. It will unsuccessfully attempt to load a page (every two seconds) for five or six times, then encrypt the connection & we get there at last! NB, I don’t have encrypt DNS enabled. Result appears to be, that any ‘new’ page takes around 10 seconds for the initial load.
Who can you trust?
I want to rate this higher, because it is excellent at blocking ads and I hate ads with a passion. Yet I don’t know anything about the company that makes this app. Their website offers no clues and the VPN is not highly rated in the world of organizations that rate VPNs for security and such. I’m suspicious at best. Who doesn’t like free, but what am I giving up in order to save a few bucks.

Has worked great until recently blocking Captchas??
I love this app and being able to block trackers. However I’m encountering a new problem where Captchas don’t appear at all unless I turn off the app momentarily?? Website forms get stuck in submission or give an error that the recaptcha was incorrect, when I can’t even see one.

But now drains my battery. Something went drastically wrong with the latests update!!
Doesn’t work on LTE for me
Works well on wifi, but blocks connection to my data when wifi not available. I have to turn the VPN off to access data. Contacted support, got a quick response but didn’t fix the problem. Please fix if possible!

Update paywalls core features
The latest update now forces you to pay extra if you want to use the custom allow/block lists. Just get another VPN. I've cancelled my subscription.

Does help me many times to block those wishing to know my tastes. It is a good company where support replies to you.
Latest update, whats happened? Allowing all ads
Fantastic app.. until latest update seems to be allowing everything, including all the obvious ads. trackers it used to block. Can manually block by going into recent activity, touch an ad, and save it, then it actually blocks it. Bug or as intended? If as intended, will just have to manually block them which is a pain but do able. Otherwise, good app.
Incompatible with iOS 16
I’ve been a fan of this app, but it is not compatible with iOS 16. The app won’t open and I am unable to disconnect the VPN through settings. It is causing my phone to not be able to stay connected to any WiFi or cellular network. Please update

In the past week I cannot access AOL (mail or website) or use links from Twitter to access any website on my iPad. Is there an update coming, or is the adblocker being “managed” by those websites? Thx, Jay! Removing and reinstalling app fixed problems!

DO NOT UPGRADE. The app now FORCES you to pay for a PREVIOUSLY FREE function: the custom whitelist!! I thought I already paid something for this app at one point??! Now the custom white list has been removed unless you pay monthly for it. Typical greedy Apple putting pressure on devs to make EVERYTHING a subscription. FO I won't do it. ONE STAR is generous for this piece of trash. ORIGINAL REVEWI: Love it, except for one crucial feature I really love this app and how it keeps me safe. But I add a lot of sites to it while I am browsing. The main issue for me, and why it is clunky for me, is because I am on a 12. 9 inch iPad Pro. Devs, try to picture going into this app 20-40 times daily or more to customize it and add trackers (there are so many now). Every single time I do this, I am forced into portrait only mode. Portrait in "one way" mode. WHY for the love of God haven't you implemented UNIVERSAL APP mode so that those of us with iPad Pros can have a LANDSCAPE MODE?? This is so basic and so fundamental that for now I will leave this as a three-star rating. If you ever change it, you will get a five-star rating.

Blocks tons of ads even for crunchyroll and funimation although it tries to get u to buy premium of the app a lot.
Doesn't work since update
This app was brilliant before its last update. Since then, it keeps turning itself off. I turn it on and as soon as I visit a site/Facebook/Twitter etc it takes ages to load and the VPN logo up top flashes on and off until finally it disappears and the site loads. I then have to go back into the app to turn protection back on. It's gotten frustrating now so I no longer use it. Please fix this bug!!
Constantly Disconnects & Reconnects
I’ve used the app for many years without a single issue, but lately it’s been very slow, the VPN disconnects itself very frequently. It also makes my phone disconnect from the wifi often. Hopefully it can be sorted out and become a stable app again
The best protection I’ve ever had!
This is truly amazing, I did not know how to transfer my app over to my new phone off of my old phone and all I had to do was ask how do I do it, and magically it appeared so that I could put it on my new phone! I don’t know how they did this cause I couldn’t think of how to do it. I’ll tell you one thing they are fast and they listen and they read our comments and they act on them! Thank you so much. I really appreciate this greatly because I am vision impairedand disabled military family, we appreciate any help we ever get.
Great app now it’s worthless
For the last few days it is malfunctioning I have to keep it open and keep turning it on That’s a new behavior. Not sure what happened with it. Unless they fix it I advise you to use a different vpn. Sadly I have to give it 1 star it really don’t deserve any
Good functionality, could improve its usability
For example, I want to the app from an iPad tu the form factor of the iPad is the only option and it’s sideways. Could he universal? Same app for iPhones and iPads? Thank you so much!
Cool idea, execution very poor
So you take a good idea and create it poorly, every update fixes things but breaks more things. The 'new' design is not great, please concentrate on fixing bugs instead of adding new features or confusion consumers with moving everything around. I'm glad I got this during the free period, i would have got a got a refund long before now.
App is good but stops working randomly
I do not have the vpn on, and when I check for activity I notice that it just stops logging for hours at a time. The only way to fix it is to turn the app off and then back on again. So basically there is no record of what was going on while the app crashed, and nothing blocked for hours at a time when you thought the app was working. It has happened every day, 2 weeks after installing. So I am unsure whether to purchase premium version if I have to check the app every couple of minutes to see if it is actually working.

Problems since Update
Update as of 3/10/22: I received a response from the developer to contact their support. I did, and more than 3 days later, no response. Despite using this app for more than 4 years, I have deleted it since it doesn’t work after the latest update. App randomly turns off several times a day and has to be switched back on. This has been happening for the last several months through updates. After today’s update, the app crashes whenever I try to open it. I’ve restarted my iPhone and it doesn’t help.
Privacy Pro SmartVPN
I got this app on recommendation from The Guardian and it seems to work great. But since the last update I can’t seem to use it on my IPhone 6 Plus. I’ve shut down and rebooted the phone, but the problem persists. In Settings the VPN switch won’t stay on—it just cycles on and off repeatedly and never turns on. It never did that before and the app still works fine on my IPad and IPhone X Plus. Any suggestions?
Ok as a freebie but not worth £30/$40! (get VPN Master)
Ok first off it's a nice simple ui but having used both versions of VPN master(& Pro)I was used to having a simple click to protect system & free or for the pro version 79p-well worth it! This one has done something to my settings and certain things now throw up a window saying my ssl or something is incorrect-I've deleted the vpn profile etc,others work by just turning off the vpn-not this one! On that and it's price I'd suggest getting vpn master,try this while it's free but I can't help if it does f up your settings...annoying it is too.
Used to be great
I’ve been using this app for a few years now and loved the ability to customize the block list. Unfortunately I’ve lost the ability to see any activity except for blocked trackers. This means that I cannot further customize my block list based on the trackers actively tracking me. I reached out to the customer service team and the person helping me was very kind and responsive. They said they’re working with the developers on a fix, but they haven’t been able to come up with anything in the 2 months since I first reported this issue. If I can’t get this fixed, I’ll probably switch to a different app once my subscription runs out since I can no longer further customize my privacy protection.
